About Test My Electrics

Testing & Inspection Is Our Bread And Butter.

We want testing your electrical installation to be routine, not reactive. This comes with education. For us, safety is paramount and the only way to find out if your electrics are safe is to test it.

Electricity is so dangerous... You can't smell it, you can't hear it (normally) and you can't see it. The other two senses, we don't recommend trying them!

Having your electrics tested gives you a clear picture of what condition your electrics are in.

This is law for landlords and businesses. We want it to be routine for everyone else. Just moved home? Before you do anything, get the electrics checked.

Cable Cancer

Green goo, commonly known as cable cancer, happens when copper reacts with the plasticiser used in cables between 1960 and 1985. When you see this, get an electrical inspection immediately. Your cables need renewed as a matter of urgency.

What Is An EICR?

An EICR is similar to having an MOT on a car. You test and inspect to the regulations it was installed in but cross reference with the latest regulations ensuring nothing that none of the regulations it does not meet impairs the safety of the electrical installation.

EICRs Explained

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) assesses the safety and condition of your electrical installation.

The report highlights:

  • Potentially dangerous defects
  • Non-compliant installations
  • Deterioration due to age or wear

Each issue is clearly coded:

  • C1 – Danger present (immediate action required)
  • C2 – Potentially dangerous
  • C3 – Improvement recommended
  • FI – Further investigation required

We explain everything in plain English, so you’re never left guessing.
